InVitro 3D® Global Tests

These are tests with international recognition and validity that prove the damage to the skin without the use of animals.

At CCAT we performed the tests on a successful three-dimensional epidermal model that mimics the characteristics of human skin and cornea.

Types of Tests

Dermal
Irritablility

We followed OECD TG 439 using the 3D Reconstituted Human Epidermis (RHE) model, which is morphologically similar to human skin. Its result allows us to classify the problem sample as:

  • "irritant"
  • "non irritant"

Ocular
Irritability

We followed OECD TG 492 using the Human Cornea-like Reconstituted Epithelium (EhRC) model which is very similar morphologically to the human cornea. Its result allows us to classify the problem sample as:

  • "irritant"
  • "non irritant"

Dermal
Sensivity

This test is performed on the 3D EHR model and allows us to evaluate the potential of a problem sample to cause Sensitivity or Allergic Dermatitis. The result allows to classify the test sample as:

  • "sensiting"
  • "non- sensitizing"

Dermal Corrosivity

This test determines the Chemical Corrosivity (irreversible damage caused on the skin) of the product. The result allows the problem sample to be classified as "corrosive" or "non-corrosive".

  • “corrosive”
  • “non corrosive”
